Our Club

We are a family run business run by Jacob Johnson, Head of Coaching and partner Charlotte Johnson, Bookings Coordinator and Secretary. We have a number of fantastic Coaches that work with us including Oliver Weller, kEM hASSAN, Gino and Chantal Demichelli.

As Kent’s foremost Tennis Programme we have a very high redemption rate, service many of the schools in the area and proudly boast - Jacob Johnson ‘Kent Tennis Coach of the Year 2014' and OWLTC ‘Kent Tennis Club of the Year 2016’.

OUR COURTS

Raw tennis lessons take place at Old Wilsonians Tennis Club, enabling us to access 6 carpet courts all containing flood lights for the winter nights. 

In addition, we have a fantastic, newly-built clubhouse to watch any major tournaments, or even to entertain the kids on rainy days!! We also have a multisports court enabling us to play football, basketball, hockey and more. 

We are based at Old wilsonians sports club too enabling us to use the field during the summer months for games such as rounders and capture the flag!

Memberships

Children’s Membership is compulsory and annual costs (1st April-31st March) are £45 covering all children in the family of primary school age (Colts) and £54 each for children of secondary school age (Juniors). Adult membership is optional and various family mmbership are available.

Children's Membership includes:
                - Supervised Box Leagues that only members may enter
                - Qualification to represent the club in matches – only club members may do this
                - Tournaments throughout the year (there is a small additional fee to participate in these)

MEET THE TEAM

JACOB JOHNSON

DIRECTOR OF COACHING

LEVEL 3 CLUB COACH

With over twenty + years of experience along with a passion to teach and a wonderful enthusiasm for the game, Jacob has successfully ensured RAW Tennis has fast become one of Kent’s foremost tennis clubs offering group and private coaching programmes for juniors from as young as four years old to adults, both novice and intermediate players. 


Jacob received' Kent Tennis Coach of the Year 2014'. Much of his coaching to day focuses on development work with youngsters, bringing them through to team and county level especially with juniors categorised in the Blue, Red, Orange and Green Ball players. 


Jacob is the face of RAW Tennis, running groups for all levels from blue stage (4-6 Years) all the way up to advanced adult classes. He is instrumental in running initiatives at surrounding schools where he provides free coaching, curriculum and after-school programmes. He is available for private coaching at £35 per hour.

OLIVER WELLER

LEVEL 3 CLUB COACH

Oliver started playing tennis with Jacob from the age of 5 and has had a passion for the sport ever since. He wanted to make an impact, giving them the same excitement and opportunities that he had and still has for the sport. 


As a regular player, he developed his skills into becoming a coaching assistant with RAW Tennis and is unquestionably a natural with all the children in the programme. 


Oliver has over 10 years coaching experience, holding the Level 3 Tennis Coaching Qualification. Triple Distinction* Sport Qualification and holds the highly acclaimed Jack Petchey award as well as more recently becoming a UKRSA Qualified Tennis Racket Stringer!


He continues to coach with the same passion and enthusiasm for the sport as he did from day one and we are delighted to have one of our own players come through the programme and become a RAW Tennis Coach. 


Oliver is now running groups for all levels from Tots (Ages 3-4) all the way up to advanced adult classes. He is also available for private coaching at £30 per hour.

KEMAL HASSAN

LTA LEVEL 2 COACH

Tennis has been a huge part of Kem's life ever since he was very young, progressing from a confident player to an enthusiastic and passionate coach when he was 14. Kem received the Jack Petchey award in 2014 for successfully running The Junior Club and taking   the role of Junior Development Officer for Old Wilsonians


GINO DEMICHELLLI

LTA LEVEL 4 SENIOR PERFORMANCE COACH

Gino has been coaching at Hackney Tennis since 2003. He is a former Peruvian Junior International player and competed in tournaments across South, Central and North America. Injury terminated his playing career at the age of 20. 


Before joining Hackney Tennis Gino coached in Peru, Mexico and the USA where he mainly worked with juniors of national and international standard and seniors at ITF (International Tennis Federation) level. He remains in contact with junior and senior players from Peru by assisting the mat Junior and Senior ITF tournaments in Europe. RAW Tennis is delighted to have Gino's calibre in the Coaching Program. Gino runs various group coaching sessions and is available for private coaching at £35 per hour.

CHANTAL DEMICHELLI

LTA LEVEL 4 SENIOR PERFORMANCE COACH

Chantal represented GB as a Tennis player from 10-16 years old as well as competing at Wimbledon twice!

She achieved a career high WTA Singles ranking of 448 and a Doubles ranking 389!


She has coached county, regional, national and international level junior players. She enjoys coaching all levels of tennis from beginners to internationals and both juniors all the way

up to adults.


Chantelle is available for private lessons at 

£35 per hour.
